Tactical Dog Harness Backpack
Built for the Dog Who Goes Everywhere.
The SFGC Tactical Dog Harness Backpack was designed to set a new standard for how dogs carry their own gear. Built with the same 1000 Denier MIL-SPEC CORDURA® nylon used in our tactical dog harnesses, this backpack is tough, lightweight, modular, and built for real-world use. Made in the USA!
NOTE: Backpack does not include the harness. Harness must be ordered separately.
Like all Shark Fin Gear products, we keep things simple: high-quality materials, innovative design, and no unnecessary features.
Inside, you'll find one large main compartment with plenty of room for the things your dog needs to carry—water, treats, first-aid supplies, collapsible water bowl, emergency gear, or whatever else you want your four-legged partner to haul.
And when you're headed out for a long hike, water is essential.
Each side pouch can hold two full 16.9 oz water bottles, giving your dog the ability to carry four full bottles with room to spare. When fully loaded with four bottles, the backpack weighs approximately 5.25 lbs total, including the backpack and water.
That's a substantial amount of useful gear your dog can carry while keeping your own pack lighter.
Your Dog Can Carry Their Own Supplies
Most dogs are hardwired to want to help, participate, and be part of whatever you're doing.
With the SFGC Tactical Dog Harness Backpack, they can.
Instead of putting all the gear in your backpack, let your dog carry some of their own supplies. It makes your load lighter while giving your dog a job to do.
For the dog who wants to go everywhere and the owner who makes it happen—the SFGC Tactical Dog Harness Backpack is your trail-ready solution.
This is a new introduction from Shark Fin Gear Company and is currently offered in one universal backpack size, designed to work with our Medium, Large, and XL Tactical Dog Harnesses.

Why the SFGC Backpack Is Different
MODULAR DESIGN — KEEP THE HARNESS ON
This is one of the biggest advantages of the SFGC system.
The two side tote packs can be removed individually or together without removing the tactical harness from your dog.
Imagine your dog jumps into a lake wearing a traditional all-in-one backpack harness.
Now everything inside the backpack is wet.
To remove the backpack, you have to remove the entire harness—and you've just lost the control and functionality of the harness.
Not with SFGC.
Simply remove the tote packs while leaving the tactical harness securely on your dog. Let the packs dry, empty them, clean them, or store them until you need them again.
At the end of the day, you can remove both packs without ever taking the harness off your dog.
That's the modular design advantage.
REPLACE ONLY WHAT YOU NEED
What happens when an all-in-one dog backpack gets ripped, damaged, or worn out?
You replace the whole thing.
We designed the SFGC system differently.
Our tactical gear is backed by a 5-year warranty, and because the backpack is modular, you can replace or repair the component that is actually damaged rather than throwing away the entire system.
We build our gear to last.
LIGHTWEIGHT WITHOUT SACRIFICING DURABILITY
The SFGC backpack weighs approximately 0.25 lbs.
That's extremely light for a durable, full-featured tactical backpack.
We believe your dog should carry their gear—not the weight of unnecessary materials and features.
NO ATTACHMENT HARDWARE REQUIRED
The backpack attaches directly to the MIL-SPEC Velcro® loop panel on the SFGC tactical harness.
No complicated hardware. No extra straps to fight with.
Simply attach the pack to the harness and go.
The system has been thoroughly tested with loaded packs to ensure the backpack stays securely attached during normal use.
BUILT WITH QUALITY HARDWARE
The backpack features a #5 YKK® coil zipper constructed with spiral nylon elements, selected for durability and dependable operation.
This isn't a zipper designed to look good on a shelf. It's designed to handle the dirt, dust, moisture, and abuse that come with taking your dog outdoors.
MOLLE® WEBBING FOR ADDITIONAL GEAR
The front of the backpack features MOLLE-style webbing, giving you additional options for attaching lightweight accessories.
It's a great place for items such as our SFGC Foldable Water Bowl or other small pieces of trail gear.
That said, we strongly discourage loading your dog down with unnecessary equipment.
If it doesn't fit in the backpack, you should probably carry it yourself—or leave it behind.
Your dog isn't a human and probably isn't training for a marathon. Keep their load appropriate for their size, breed, fitness level, and experience.
OPTIONAL CLEAR PROTECTIVE CASE
A clear plastic case option is available for items that need additional protection from moisture, dirt, or the elements.
It's ideal for small medical supplies, emergency items, or anything else you want to keep protected and easy to see.
2-INCH VELCRO® LOOP PANEL
The top of the backpack features a 2-inch Velcro® loop panel for attaching:
- Name tags
- Morale patches
- Service dog patches

CARE & SAFETY
1. Cleaning
Hand wash with mild soap or neutral detergent. The backpack may also be machine washed on a gentle cycle.
Air dry only.
2. Storage
If your dog likes to chew on gear, store the backpack somewhere your dog can't get to it when it isn't being used.
3. Recomended loading weight
For most dogs, we recommend starting at approximately 10–12% of the dog's body weight, including the backpack, and adjusting based on the dog's breed, age, fitness level, conditioning, and energy.
For example, a 50-lb dog might carry approximately 5–6 lbs total, but that does not mean every 50-lb dog should immediately carry that much. As a real-world reference, four full 16.9 oz water bottles loaded into the SFGC backpack weigh approximately 5.25 lbs. Use that as a practical way to judge the weight your dog may be carrying.
Start light.
If your dog is new to wearing a pack, start with approximately 1 lb on each side and gradually increase the weight over several walks as your dog becomes comfortable and conditioned.
Always monitor your dog for signs of fatigue, discomfort, overheating, or distress.
4. Balance the Load
Keep the weight distributed evenly between both side pouches.
If you use only one tote pack, the harness can rotate toward that side. If you need to use only one pack, you can use a lightweight counterweight in the opposite pouch—for example, a sealed plastic bag filled with sand or gravel. The SFGC carry pouch is perfect for this situation or the water bottle holder.
The goal is a balanced, comfortable load.
IMPORTANT — HARNESS COMPATIBILITY
The SFGC Tactical Dog Harness Backpack is designed specifically for the Shark Fin Gear Company Tactical Dog Harness in Medium, Large, and XL.
Please do not order this backpack for:
- SFGC harnesses smaller than Medium
- Harnesses made by other manufacturers
We designed this backpack around the construction, dimensions, and MIL-SPEC Velcro® attachment system of our own tactical harnesses.
If you have an American-made harness from another manufacturer and aren't sure whether the backpack will work with it, contact us before ordering.
We'd rather help you get the right gear than have you order something that isn't compatible.
A restocking fee may apply to returns resulting from ordering this backpack for a harness other than an SFGC Medium, Large, or XL Tactical Dog Harness.
