Do
Enjoy more time with your pup. When you want to get your dog’s attention just a short tug and the correct “come” command or “leave it” if your dog is getting too interested in something. You can bring your dog into a heal position with the no pull belly strap on. Or combine it with another leash or Handy Leash attached to the front d-ring. See the training tips video.
DON'Ts
Don’t pull hard on the no pull to get your dog to come back to you.
Go to your dog and use the handle on the harness or a Handy Leash or regular leash on the front d-ring.
Don’t use the no pull if your dog winces in pain.
The no pull strap will not cause pain unless it is pulled extremely hard by you, not the dog. If your dog indicates it is in pain, consult with a veterinarian, something else is going on.
Don’t use the no pull belly strap if your dog has had surgery any where the strap would come in contact with dog.
Don’t use if the dog has any other condition that may be aggravated by the strap coming in contact with it including pregnancy.
Don’t connect the no pull strap to a tie out line connected to a tree, post or other fixed object.
It is only to be used with a leash held by a human.
Don’t leave the no pull strap on after you disconnect the leash.
When you disconnect the leash, take off the no pull belly strap.

FAQ's
1: My dog still wants to pull when I put onthe belly strap, what should I do?
The No Pull Belly Strap™ significantly reduces strain on your hand, arm, and shoulder, but some dogs, especially strong or determined pullers, may continue to test the leash at first. This doesn’t mean the strap isn’t working, it simply means your dog is still learning a new walking rule.If your dog begins to pull, hold the leash steady and stop moving. Stay calm and don’t move forward until the leash goes slack. The moment your dog stops pulling and releases the pressure, you can continue walking. This teaches your dog that pulling does not get them where they want to go, only a loose leash does. Many dogs quickly decide they don’t like the sensation of pulling against their own abdomen and stop on their own.
2: My dog walks funny or sideways when I put on the no pull, is that normal?
It is not common but some dogs do this strange sideways crab-walk. We recommend watching the Training Tips video for the No Pull Belly Strap™ to see different ways to hook up a second leash or Handy leash to the front v-ring to help steer them into a “normal” walking gait.
3: My dog doesn’t want to wear the harness,if I do get it on him, he just lays down and doesn’t move. What can I do?
“This behavior usually means your dog is
anxious about the harness. Take time to introduce it gradually using treats and positive reinforcement. Ensure it is the right size and avoid forcing your dog to move. Take your time, don’t get frustrated.
4: My dog bucks like a horse when I put on the no pull, what can I do?
This is rare but we have seen it happen.
Refer to Answer 2.
5: My no pull strap only has an inch or two of length after I put it through the v-ring and attach the leash, can I get a longer one?
Absolutely, just contact SFGC and let them know what size and color you have and we will send you a larger size.
*SFGC is an abbreviation for Shark Fin Gear Company
6: Can I use the No Pull Belly Strap™ on a different manufacturers harness?
SFGC company will not sell our No Pull Belly Strap™ for use with any other product. If you try it on another product you will void any warranty and liability of SFGC. This could result in injury to your dog and we do not support or condone it.
7: I want to try to run a leash through the front v-ring to the hook up hardware on the No Pull Belly Strap™ so it’s controlling the dog from the front of the harness, not the back, is that ok?
We can’t stop you from experimenting. And if you have a novel idea, we would love to hear about it. But we recommend you refer to Answer 2.
8: Can the No Pull Belly Strap™ be used as leash extender?
No, the No Pull Belly Strap™ can not be used to as a way to make a longer leash. The rectangle hardware can not support the tremendous pulling pressure a dog can exert when it is hooked up to a harness or collar like a regular leash. The No Pull Belly Strap™ is only to be used as it is intended.
9: Can I use a two dog splitter (coupler) to walk two dogs with one leash with one or both dogs wearing a No Pull Belly Strap™?
Yes, you can absolutely walk one or two dogs with a splitter with one or both wearing a No Pull Belly Strap™. It will amaze you how easy it is!
10: Should I examine the belly where the no pull strap makes contact periodically to see if there is skin irritation or soreness?
Yes, especially during the first week of use, then every other week, then every other month. This will assure you that your dog isn’t having any issues. It is rare, but some dogs have developed a skin issue where the strap makes contact. If there is any type of skin breakdown, stop using the strap.
The No Pull Belly Strap™ only works with Shark Fin Gear Harnesses and Service Dog Vests.
